Renewable Energy System
By Beverly Clarke

A renewable energy system isn’t just the best hope for our future… it’s here and now. Renewable sources such as solar energy, hydro energy and wind energy can never be exhausted and are harmless to the environment. Renewable energy provides us with a route out of economic recession and depression and will change our way of life. It is a responsibility we should all embrace sooner rather than later.

Renewable energy can step up the reliability of the overall system, by broadening our resource base and using supplies that are not subject to intermittent shortages or other disruptions to supply. Renewable energy systems have the hope to become the energy solution for the 21st Century: it can produce jobs and groundbreaking industries, improve air and water quality, provide access to energy for our energy security, which all leads to greater community development.

Three types of solutions fall into the category of renewable energy systems: solar energy systems, hydro energy systems, and wind energy systems. In this young millennium, renewable energy products are progressively becoming the workable answers for the independent-minded individual. Around the world, communities big and small are making commitments to reducing waste material and pollution with Zero Waste declarations.

Plans include homemade wind generators, solar panel installation guides, running your generator on biodiesel, renewable energy solutions, information to build your own house, and more.

The Genuine Green certification is a prestigious recognition awarded by SRE to those companies which have shown a true green energy commitment by combining energy efficiency solutions with renewable energy systems for maximum savings and minimum carbon footprints. A sustainable future demands unique development and investment solutions today. Plans need to include homemade wind generators, solar panel installation, running your generator on biodiesel, disseminating information on how to build your own energy efficient house, in order to cut your electricity bills at home by using a renewable energy system.

New technology has made solar energy systems cost effective and gives a relatively fast return on investment. The next step is to create a sustainable society with the integration of these systems. Small systems are easy to build and a perfect way to start saving money and the environment Present-day systems, while rarely economically cost-effective, have demonstrated that a standard home with an appropriately-sized solar panel array and energy storage system requires electricity from external sources for merely a few hours per week.

By harmonizing electricity supply to the end-user’s needs, proponents of renewable energy and the soft energy path, trust that electricity systems will become smaller and easier to oversee, rather than the opposite.

Our Current Sources of Energy and Why We Need Alternatives
By Joshua Vadney

Do you realize that one of the most common contributors to how much carbon dioxide in our air is the production of the energy we use every day? Everyone uses electricity every day and in fact we take it for granted, just flicking a switch or pushing a button to turn on the lights, watch television, or turn on our computer but have you ever considered where that electricity in your home is coming from? You might not be aware that almost all of our energy needs are provided by fossil fuels such as oil and coal. These energy sources are the blame for most of the toxic carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and scientists are growing increasingly alarmed with the impact these emissions are having on the environment.

Most people don’t realize is how using their normal appliances in their home or at work can affect our climate so strongly so they aren’t worried about finding alternative fuel sources. But the importance of finding renewable clean energy sources has never been so important as it is right now. Besides the fact that our current energy sources are harming our atmosphere, it is a fact that they will eventually run out since they aren’t renewable. This is one of the most important reasons, aside from keeping our environment clean, we need to find alternative sources for our energy needs.

Many energy companies have been exploring the possibilities of using solar panels and windmills (solar and wind energy) on a widespread basis, bringing production costs down and making them more efficient so they can be readily available. Hydro power, using dams to harness the energy from moving water with turbines, is also a good alternative source but it can only be used in area with rivers and large bodies of water. The downside of wind energy is that it can only be used in areas that have consistent wind so it can’t be used in a lot of areas as a stand alone sole energy source.

Researchers all around the world are currently trying to discover sources of alternative energy right now. One of the most common energy sources that doesn’t emit carbon dioxide is nuclear power but it is also one of the most controversial as well. Concerns about the dangers of a meltdown and contamination of the environment have kept nuclear power from being developed large scale in the United States but other countries are using nuclear power to their benefit. It is one of the most widespread uses of clean energy but the biggest downfall of using nuclear energy is the nuclear waste it produces, which can take millions of years to become inert and has to be stored. The main problem with this is that we only have so much space for storage and eventually it could leak into the environment, causing more environmental concerns.

Until we discover a clean source of energy that is more commercially available and solves our current issues with our current power power sources, the best thing we can all do to help is try to limit our our energy usage daily by being consistent. Researchers have shown that if everyone always turned off the lights when not in use in their homes and offices that it would reduce our energy usage by up to twenty percent.

Seems simple, doesn’t it?

Have you ever considered building your own solar panels or a windmill to slash your electric bill in half or even eliminate it altogether? You don’t have to be a construction worker to make your own power! Alternative Energy Online - Part 3 http://alternativeenergyonline.net/alternative-energy-online-part-3/ http://alternativeenergyonline.net/alternative-energy-online-part-3/#comments Mon, 15 Sep 2008 17:24:30 +0000 admin http://alternativeenergyonline.net/?p=8 When it comes to Alternative Energy ideas, one of the leaders on the topic is T. Boone Pickens. Pickens, who has made billions in the Oil Industry, is now pushing a plan to get America off of it’s dependence on foreign oil. His plan includes the use of Wind energy, Natural Gas, and more to help change the way America relies on oil. Pickens has been meeting with both presidential candidates and is encouraging them to adopt his plan. Included below is a video in which you can listen to T. Boone Pickens explain his plan.

It is obvious that something needs to change and this plan may be one of the best solutions out there. We will continue to monitor the Internet for other possibilities and for the best information available on Alternative Energy online.

Alternative Energy - Part 2 http://alternativeenergyonline.net/alternative-energy-part-2/ http://alternativeenergyonline.net/alternative-energy-part-2/#comments Fri, 01 Aug 2008 23:41:40 +0000 admin http://alternativeenergyonline.net/?p=7 As we are developing the Alternative Energy blog we will be keeping you updated with the latest news in Alternative Energy solutions. There is a lot of advertising that is happening right now promoting the Pickens Plan. This plan has been developed and is being promoted by T. Boone Pickens. I am including a quote from the end of the plan and also providing a link if you are interested in joining up.

How do we get it done?

The Pickens Plan is a bridge to the future — a blueprint to reduce foreign oil dependence by harnessing domestic energy alternatives, and buy us time to develop even greater new technologies.

Building new wind generation facilities and better utilizing our natural gas resources can replace more than one-third of our foreign oil imports in 10 years. But it will take leadership.

On January 20th, 2009, a new President will take office.

We’re organizing behind the Pickens Plan now to ensure our voices will be heard by the next administration.

Together we can raise a call for change and set a new course for America’s energy future in the first hundred days of the new presidency — breaking the hammerlock of foreign oil and building a new domestic energy future for America with a focus on sustainability.

You can start changing America’s future today by supporting the Pickens Plan.

We will be following the progress of the Pickens plan and will do our best to keep you updated.
